Harry Maronde

Harry George Maronde, age 86, of York, NE, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at York. He was born February 22, 1925 at the family home north of York to Ernest and Matilda (Schoeneck) Maronde. Harry lived in this home until moving to the Hearthstone in 2009.

Harry loved his family, farming and raising livestock. At the age of 17, he took over the family farm where he raised livestock and farmed until his retirement. His church was an important part of his life. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of York. Later he was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church where he served as financial secretary, treasurer, and elder. Harry was also a charter member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, a former member of the St. Paul Lutheran School Board and the York Rural Fire District Board. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

Harry married Ruth Markworth on March 3, 1946 in York. They have a daughter Donna (Gary) Hammack of Lincoln, NE, and a son Larry (Adene) Maronde of York. Harry and Ruth also have two grandsons, Christopher (Kathleen) Hammack and Andrew Hammack and one great-grandson, Henry Hammack. Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers, Art, Walt, and William.

Services were held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church in York, with the Reverend Allen Bergstrazer officiating. Burial followed at St. Paul’s Cemetery northeast of York. Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church, 1214 Ohio, York, NE 68467.
