Tony Howe
Anthony “Tony” V. Howe, age 37, of York, NE passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at York. He was born April 12, 1974 in Hastings, NE to Roger and Beverly (Stiles) Howe. Tony graduated from York High School in 1992 and went on to earn his Criminal Justice Degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 1996. He formerly was an officer for the York Police Department and the York County Sheriffs Department from 1996 until 2004. For a portion of that time he was a canine handler. Currently he was working as a police officer for the City of Lincoln. He was a field training officer, a drug recognition expert, and was currently working in the criminal investigative unit.
Tony and Stephanie Strong were united in marriage on January 3, 1998 in York. The union was blessed with three sons, Jacob, Benjamin, and Tyler. Tony was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York where he taught Sunday School and Bible School classes. He was a Teammates mentor, Cub Scout leader, basketball coach, baseball coach, and a former member of the York Jaycees. He was a loving husband, father and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Stephanie, sons Jacob, Benjamin, and Tyler of York; parents, Roger and Beverly Howe of York; siblings, Shauna (David) Becker of York; grandmother, Rogene Howe of Central City, NE; mother-in-law, Janet Strong of York; father-in-law Jon (Joan) Strong of York; sisters-in-law, Kim White of Lincoln, and Stacey (Tom) Allison of Lincoln; brothers-in-law, Craig (Jen) Strong of Lincoln, and Mike (Erica) Graus of Marietta, GA; and grandmother-in-law, Mildred Strong of York. Tony was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Mike Neidow officiating. Burial followed in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for educational funds for Tony’s sons.
