Darrel Blitzkie

Darrel H. Blitzkie, age 61 of York, NE, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 in York. He was born January 18, 1950 to Homer Lee and Ann (Carlson) Blitzkie in Lynch, NE. On May 26, 1974, he was united in marriage to Beverly Perry in O’Neill, NE. Darrel had worked in the maintenance department at Wal-Mart. He enjoyed dancing, working on vehicles, figure 8 racing, tractor pulls, and his family.

He is survived by his son Benjamin (Melinda) Blitzkie of Geneva, NE; three daughters: Rebecca Blitzkie of Rochester, NY, Renee (Kevin) Martin of Lincoln, NE and Nikki Blitzke of Lincoln, NE; and two grandchildren: Kaylee Martin of Lincoln and Landen Blitzkie of Geneva. He is also survived by two sisters: Eileen (Arnold) Dowling of Osceola, NE and Marilyn (Don) Schmidt of Omaha, NE; his aunt Betty Carlson of Spencer, NE; and cousins David Carlson of Springfield, NE, Terry Carlson of Hastings, NE, and Leroy Blitzkie of Spencer, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, and his sister Elaine.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Metz Chapel in York. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
